Stainless steel plate introduction:
Stainless steel plate is an alloy steel with smooth surface, high weldability, corrosion resistance, polishability, heat resistance, corrosion resistance and other characteristics. It is widely used in various industries and is an important material in modern industry. Stainless steel is divided into austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, and duplex stainless steel according to the structure state.
Austenitic Stainless Steel: stainless steel with an austenitic structure at room temperature. Steel contains Cr≈18%, Ni≈8%-25% and C≈0.1%. Steel has high toughness and plasticity, but low strength.
Martensitic Stainless Steel: A steel whose mechanical properties can be adjusted by heat treatment. It has different strength and toughness at different tempering temperatures.
Duplex Stainless Steel: Austenitic and ferrite each account for about half of the structure. When the C content is low, the Cr content is 18% to 28%, and the Ni content is 3% to 10%. Some steels also contain alloying elements such as Mo, Cu, Si, Nb, Ti, and N. This type of steel has the characteristics of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel
Ferritic Stainless Steel: It contains 15% to 30% chromium and has a body-centered cubic crystal structure. This type of steel generally does not contain nickel, and sometimes contains a small amount of Mo, Ti, Nb and other elements. This type of steel has the characteristics of large thermal conductivity, small expansion coefficient, good oxidation resistance, and excellent stress corrosion resistance.
· 201 Stainless Steel
Copper content: J4>J1>J3>J2>J5.
Carbon content: J5>J2>J3>J1>J4.
Hardness arrangement: J5, J2>J3>J1>J4.
The order of prices from high to low is: J4>J1>J3>J2, J5.
J1(Mid Copper): The carbon content is slightly higher than J4 and the copper content is lower than J4. Its processing performance is less thanJ4. It is suitable for ordinary shallow drawing and deep drawing products, such as decorative board, sanitary products, sink, product tube, etc.
J2, J5(Decorative tubes): Simple decorative tubes are still good, because the hardness is high (both above 96°) and the polishing is morebeautiful, but the square tube or the curved tube (90°) is prone to bursting.
In terms of flat plate: due to the high hardness, the board surface is beautiful, and the surface treatment such as frosting,
polishing and plating is acceptable. But the biggest problem is the bending problem, the bend is easy to break, and the groove is easy to burst. Poor extensibility.
J3(Low Copper): Suitable for decorative tubes. Simple processing can be done on the decorative panel, but it is not possible with a little difficulty. There is feedback that the shearing plate is bent, and there is an inner seam after breaking (black titanium, color plate series, sanding plate, broken, folded out with inner seam). The sink material has been tried to bend, 90 degrees, but it will not continue.
J4( High Copper): It is the higher end of the J series. It is suitable for small angle types of deep drawing products. Most of the products that require deep salt picking and salt spray test will choose it. For example, sinks, kitchen utensils, bathroom products, water bottles, vacuum flasks, door hinges, shackles, etc.
· 304 Stainless Steel
304 is a versatile stainless steel that is widely used to make equipment and parts that require good overall performance
(corrosion resistance and formability). In order to maintain the inherent corrosion resistance of stainless steel, steel must
contain more than 18% chromium and more than 8% nickel.
· 316 stainless steel
316 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, atmospheric corrosion resistance, and high-temperature strength due to the addition of Mo, which can be used under harsh conditions; excellent work hardening (non-magnetic).
Equipment for seawater use, chemical, dye, papermaking, oxalic acid, fertilizer and other production equipment; photographs, food industry, facilities incoastal areas, ropes, CD rods, bolts, nuts.
· 430 stainless steel
Type 430 Stainless Steel is perhaps the most popular non-hardenable ferritic stainless steel available. Type 430 is known for good corrosion, heat, oxidation resistance, and its decorative nature. It is important to note that when well polished or buffed its corrosion resistance increases. All welding must occur at higher temperatures, but it is easily machined, bent, and formed.
Thanks to this combination it is used in a number of different commercial and industrial applications including:Furnace combustion chambers,Automotive trim and molding,Gutters and downspouts,Nitric acid plant equipment,Oil and Gas refinery equipment,Restaurant equipment,Dishwasher linings,Element supports and fasteners.etc.
Stainless steel sheet & plate are absolutely not the same, they are typically different in their thickness. The more the thickness, the stronger the strength, different thickness is used for a different purpose. Below are the properties for stainless steel sheet and plate:
Stainless Steel Sheet
Stainless steel sheet generally features a thickness not more than 6mm, it’s usually utilized for architectural structures and decorative material without extra durability requirements. Stainless steel sheet comes with corrosion resistance and is well suited for cladding, roofing, railing, and ceiling.
· Thickness is generally not more than 6mm.
· Thickness is less than stainless steel plate.
· Light weight is usually for architectural and residential applications.
Stainless Steel Plate
The thickness of stainless steel plate is typically more than 6mm, and it’s usually applied in purposes where required high durability and strength are more than the weight requirement. It is used in architectural structures and industrial applications where durability is required to pass strength & tenacity testing.
· Thickness is generally more than 6mm.
· Thickness is more than stainless steel plate.
· High tensile strength and durability for heavy-duty applications.
